Ya know, many people have been successful with small publishing.
Economically, you may not do quite well but in the end, you do better because you’re always dealing with someone who answers the phone to you. Often if you’re dealing with a very large publishing, sooner or later you end up dealing with somebody with a very low level, and maybe a very nice person but unable to make a decision.
